Sheetfed Printing

Sheetfed Printing

The Komori high-performance press-inking system and fully automated plate changing capability reduces job change-over time and keeps waste to an absolute minimum.

The double-sized perfecting cylinder systems and a unique sheet path design ensure smooth, consistent sheet flow, preventing sheet curl, reduced scuffing with high register accuracy for superb quality double-sided printing. Reel to sheet systems cut down turnaround times, as paper no longer needs to be sheeted before printing can start.

  • The Komori Lithrone S104P 10-colour long perfector with reel to sheet system is used for high quality, full colour magazine or commercial work. A 5th and 10th unit can add an additional spot colour to achieve a specific colour spectrum or oil varnish. The perfector unit allows for printing on both sides of a sheet.
  • The Komori Lithrone S840P 8-colour long perfector with reel to sheet system delivers four over four printing and is ideal for high quality, full colour magazine or commercial work, including long and short run specialised products.
  • The Komori Lithrone S640C 6-colour with anilox coater provides high gloss printing and heaving ink loading for covers and high quality commercial work, including two spot or corporate ISO certified colours.

Sheetfed printing responsibly highlights

Green Presses: The Komori presses are produced with zero emissions. Their KHS Inking System keeps paper waste to absolute minimum levels. Other technological developments focus on further reducing paper waste, energy consumption, use of chemicals, solid waste and noise. The presses accommodate alcohol free printing using eco friendly inks, which improves the working environment and reduces the use of volatile organic compounds (VOC’s), which can create harmful emissions.

A 40” press with KHS saves approximately 748 800 sheets per year, which translates to Approximately 1040 trees conserved per year.

Green inks: Volatile alcohols are used in various inks, and other coatings as a solvent to control viscosity and drying characteristics. Paarl Media uses “Mineral Oil and volatile organic compound (VOC) free’ offset inks based on vegetable oil on all their sheetfed presses. These provide excellent stability and performance, even at the highest press speeds.
